PP&L Crews Help West Penn Power with Storm Recovery

After battling high winds and heavy snows all week to restore electric service to Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. customers, PP&L line crews from the Susquehanna region helped a neighboring utility in its storm recovery effort.

Two crews each from the Williamsport and Sunbury areas responded to a request for help Friday (11/17) from West Penn Power Co., which was still cleaning up from the heavy snowfall earlier in the week.

The Williamsport crews restored power to radio and telecommunications transmitters on a mountaintop in Clinton County. The Sunbury crews repaired downed lines near R.B. Winter State Park near the border of Union and Centre counties.

"We had essentially finished our storm cleanup work in the Susquehanna region when West Penn asked for help," said Don Stringfellow, PP&L's community development director for the Williamsport and Lock Haven areas. "We were glad to assist them in a time of need."

PP&L restored service to about 80,000 customers left without power by the snow storm, including 12,000 in the Williamsport, Sunbury and Lock Haven areas.
