Wholesale electricity customers can buy electrical output from Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. under a tariff approved Wednesday (6/21) by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
"This 'umbrella' tariff means we no longer have to write separate contracts for each wholesale customer who wants to purchase electrical output from PP&L," said John F. Sipics, PP&L's general manager for Power Systems Support.
The "case-by-case" approach used previously required PP&L to file each wholesale contract and wait 60 days for FERC approval.
"Our new tariff gives utilities, power marketers and other wholesale customers ready access to PP&L's low-cost resources," Sipics said.
Prices under the tariff will be driven by the market, he added, but will not exceed PP&L's fully embedded costs for providing the output.
The new tariff does not replace existing contracts PP&L has with current wholesale customers.
Qualifying wholesale customers who would like to learn more about PP&L's wholesale tariff should contact Philip F. Weber at (610) 774-4147.
