Chemical Spill Cleaned Up Inside Truck at PP&L Warehouse

About 5 gallons of a hazardous chemical spilled inside a truck making a delivery at Pennsylvania Power & Light Co.'s Harrisburg regional warehouse Tuesday afternoon (6/20).

The spill was contained within the truck and was cleaned up without incident. No one was injured.

As the driver was making a delivery at PP&L's warehouse, located at 5210 Paxton St., Swatara Township, he and a PP&L employee noticed liquid leaking from a 55-gallon container on the truck.

Upon investigation, they discovered that the container held methoxypropyl amine, a corrosive liquid, which was being returned to the trucking company terminal by another customer.

The driver notified his dispatcher, who called Environmental Products & Services Co., a Harrisburg firm that cleans up hazardous material spills.

The trucking company also notified local police, firefighters, ambulance crews and hazardous materials teams, as required by environmental regulations.
