Robert J. Grey, of Syosset, N.Y., has been named vice president, general counsel and secretary for Pennsylvania Power & Co. Grey, who had been general counsel for Long Island Lighting Co. since 1992, succeeds G. D. Caliendo, who left PP&L in July 1994 to pursue other interests. The position was not filled last year pending the results of a recently completed corporate restructuring.
William F. Hecht, PP&L's chairman, president and CEO, said, "we are fortunate to have found a general counsel with utility and outside law firm experience as well as a background in state and federal regulatory law. Bob Grey will add broad experience and knowledge to our management team."
Before joining Long Island Lighting Co., Grey had been senior and managing partner, and later, senior utility partner, with the firm of Preston Thorgrimson Shidler Gates & Ellis of Portland, Ore. and Seattle, Wash.
For five years, from 1977 to 1982, he was a staff counsel for the New York Public Service Commission in New York City. Prior to that, he served as an attorney for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C.
He received his B.A. degree from Columbia University, his doctor of law degree from Emory University and a master of law degree in taxation from George Washington University.
Grey and his wife, Susan, are the parents of two daughters, Lisa and Laura.
