Pennsylvania Power & Light Co. continues to monitor a large, slow-moving winter storm that is expected to bring a foot or more of snow to parts of eastern and central Pennsylvania. As of mid-day Tuesday (12/19), the storm has caused few power outages in PP&L's service area.
"Our crews are prepared to respond to any power outages," said Robert M. Geneczko, PP&L's vice president for Electrical Systems. "Customers can call us toll-free, 24 hours a day, at 1-800-342-5775 to report power outages."
He noted as long as the precipitation remains in the form of snow, PP&L should have few power outages. Ice, wind and heavy, wet snow cause more damage to power lines and electrical equipment.
"We're monitoring the weather closely. Winds are expected to become stronger tonight and tomorrow, but if there is no buildup of ice or wet snow on power lines, we should be able to get through the storm with a minimum of customer power outages," Geneczko said.
PP&L serves 1.2 million customers in 29 counties of eastern and central Pennsylvania.
