PPL Reports First-Quarter 2008 Earnings; Reaffirms 2008 and 2010 Earnings Forecasts

Driven by stronger results in its international delivery business segment and special items, PPL Corporation reported higher first-quarter 2008 earnings compared with a year ago, the company announced May 2. PPL’s reported earnings in the most recent quarter were $0.69 per share, 33 percent higher than a year ago. PPL’s first-quarter 2008 earnings from ongoing operations, which exclude special items, were 6 percent lower than a year ago, at $0.61 per share, primarily due to the expiration of the federal synfuel tax credit program at the end of 2007. >> read more

PPL Electric Utilities has received 15 J.D. Power and Associates awards for customer satisfaction among electric utilities in the eastern United States - more than any other utility in the country. Two PPL renewable energy projects have been honored by the Environmental Protection Agency. And the U.S. Department of the Interior in 2008 gave PPL and its partners in Maine’s Penobscot River Restoration Project the Cooperative Conservation Award.
