Programs and Workshops

PPL's Martins Creek Environmental Preserve provides wonderful opportunities for learning about the environment. Led by its team of experienced naturalists, PPL conducts programs for adults and children on everything from bird watching to boating safety. These programs are offered free to the public. Upcoming programs are listed in PPL's online Calendar of Events and publicized via a free quarterly e-mail. To receive the quarterly listing of events, send an e-mail to pplpreserves@pplweb.com and list "Subscribe Martins Creek" in the subject line.

In addition, the Martins Creek Environmental Preserve is a prime site for teacher education programs. Teacher workshops are designed to provide educators with background information, skills and activities to enhance their teaching of environmental education in the classroom. The workshops are linked to the Pennsylvania Department of Education's Environment and Ecology Standards, but they have broad applicability. PPL offers workshops to teachers in New Jersey as part of the Warren County in-service program.

Each year, the preserve offers the award-winning Teaching Environmental Awareness workshop. This one-day workshop brings a respected environmental educator to the preserve to offer teaching tips and techniques. Other workshops focus on energy awareness. Our future energy needs depend on making critical decisions that affect our economy, quality of life and the environment.
