Fishing, boating restricted at Holtwood Dam in preparation for proposed expansion

To help protect public safety as PPL prepares for the start of construction at the Holtwood hydroelectric plant, PPL has announced restrictions on fishing and boating activities near the plant, effective this week.

The tailrace, the area where river water leaves the power plant, will be closed to shoreline fishing until construction is completed in 2013. Boating in the area from the Norman Wood Bridge into the tailrace also will be restricted because of construction.

The company on Wednesday (11/4) announced a video contest, challenging its customers to share their best energy efficiency video tips for a chance to win a grand-prize worth $5,000.

PPL receives FERC approval to expand Holtwood hydroelectric plant

Approval by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission of a request by PPL Holtwood, LLC, is a significant milestone in the plan to increase generation of clean, renewable energy and improve migratory fish passage, the company said Tuesday (11/3).

PPL completes sale of hydroelectric assets in Maine

PPL Corporation (NYSE: PPL) announced Monday (11/2) that its PPL Maine subsidiary has completed the sale of the majority of PPL Maine’s hydroelectric generation business to Black Bear Hydro Partners, LLC, an affiliate of ArcLight Capital Partners, LLC, for approximately $81 million.
