Mason-Dixon Trail
About 15 miles of this trail traverses the York County side of Lake Aldred. Some PPL land is used for the trail. Built by the Mason-Dixon Trail System Inc., it extends from the Horseshoe Trail near Philadelphia to the Appalachian Trail near Harrisburg.
The area from Lock 12 to Otter Creek is one of the more scenic trails in Pennsylvania. A small store is located at Otter Creek Campground, the northern end of this section. There are many good parking areas along this stretch of trail. This is a beautiful but difficult day-hike. The trail is blue-blazed throughout.
The Oakland run area is a scenic stream with many small waterfalls.
