PPL's partnership with the educational community is an important part of our social compact. Our business-education partnerships go well beyond monetary contributions.

PPL programs include teacher workshops, school partnerships in which PPL employees serve as volunteer tutors and mentors for children, competitive programs that help students apply their classroom learning to real-world issues and developing curricula that meet standards for classroom use.

More than 7,000 teachers have attended PPL-sponsored workshops on energy and environmental education. In 2005, PPL presented 12 teacher workshops with attendance of 115.

Education partnerships also include PPL's international operations. PPL affiliate DelSur awarded 10 scholarships totaling more than $4,500 (U.S.) to young women attending the Alberto Masferrer Center of Catholic Scholars in El Salvador.

A donation of 10 computers and educational materials by DelSur is helping the education of students with limited financial means in San Lorenzo, El Salvador.
