PPL Gas Utilities partners with local Habitat for Humanity chapters in the communities it serves to support affordable housing. The company supplies free water heaters and pays for the cost of installation in Habitat for Humanity homes that use natural gas or propane as their primary heating source.

"It feels good to give back to the communities we serve," said Andy Montero, marketing manager for PPL Gas Utilities. Under the program, gas water heaters have been installed in Habitat for Humanity homes in several Pennsylvania communities.

For its work, PPL Gas Utilities received the Golden Hammer Award in 2004 and 2005 from the Tri-County Habitat for Humanity chapter based in State College, Pennsylvania.
