Charitable contributions from PPL and its employees have a significant benefit to the communities where we do business. The primary method of support for the company's U.S. operations is the United Way.

United Way organizations across the United States mobilize community resources to improve people's lives. Its main areas of focus are children and youth services, strengthening families, improving access to health care and promoting self-sufficiency.

In 2005, PPL and its employees contributed $2.2 million to community organizations through the United Way, an increase of 10 percent over 2004 and 20 percent since 2002.

Another way PPL supports the United Way is through volunteer service during Day of Caring events in the communities where the company does business. These volunteer efforts have included roadside cleanup projects, volunteering at day care centers for children, maintenance work at camps for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts and stocking food bank pantries.
