PPL’s electricity delivery subsidiaries again awarded for customer service

An important aspect of corporate responsibility is how well a company serves its customers, day in and day out. PPL electricity delivery companies in the United States and the United Kingdom have been recognized repeatedly for their outstanding customer satisfaction.

PPL Electric Utilities, which serves 1.4 million customers in 29 counties of Pennsylvania in the United States, has received 14 J.D. Power and Associates awards for customer satisfaction — more than any other utility in the United States.

“We know how important reliability is to our customers,” said David G. DeCampli, president of PPL Electric Utilities. “We also know that our business is about more than just delivering electricity. It’s about listening to customers, meeting their needs, being good neighbors and making a difference in helping them manage their energy use.”

In the United Kingdom, Western Power Distribution has once again earned the government’s prestigious Charter Mark award for outstanding customer service. No other electricity distribution company in the U.K. has ever earned the honor since its launch in 1992.

WPD, which serves 1.5 million customers across South West England and 1 million customers in South Wales, has held the award continuously since that time. The award is given every three years.

“It is a source of enormous pride for our employees to continue this legacy of superior customer service,” said Robert Symons, WPD’s chief executive and vice president-United Kingdom for PPL Global.
