Social Reporting
PPL is 10,375 employees strong on two continents, but like many utility companies, we face an issue as baby boomers begin retiring over the next decade. PPL is focusing on workforce resource plans, which will serve as a blueprint for staffing needs. PPL is strengthening partnerships with colleges, universities, technical schools and trade schools, with a focus on creating awareness about career opportunities in the energy industry.
We also care that people return home at the end of the day, and we provide extensive safety training and programs. After all, no job that we do is so critical that we cannot spare the time to make sure we do the job safely. Most of our facilities in the United States have achieved Star worksite status, which recognizes exemplary performance in industrial safety under the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Voluntary Protection Program.
Our employees are the face of our company, and we’re proud of their dedication in the communities where they live and work. We back them up every step of the way through our volunteer recognition program and our business resource groups. PPL’s diverse business resource groups – including groups for African-American, gay and lesbian, women and Christian employees – sponsor programs that address community needs.
In this section, you’ll read about PPL’s social commitment. Some links may take readers outside of the report, which we publish every other year. However, the outside pages are updated periodically so that we can provide you with the latest data. |
