Environmental Reporting

PPL is rising to meet the challenge of providing reliable electricity while reducing its impact on the environment. It’s why we’re spending $1.6 billion on scrubbers and other environmental upgrades that will make two of our coal-fired generating plants in Pennsylvania among the cleanest coal-fired plants in the nation. It’s why we’re expanding our existing hydroelectric plants. It's why we buy the electricity generated at two Pennsylvania wind farms and have agreed to buy half the renewable energy credits produced by a West Virginia wind farm. And it’s why we preserve thousands of acres around our power plants for conservation and environmental education programs.

Our commitment to the environment extends to participating in the development of governmental responses to climate change. We’re a member of a number of industry associations advising policymakers, and have supported legislation that would reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
