The Plaza at PPL Center
More than just a building
PPL’s commitment to the environment and to its communities is evident in its operations worldwide — even in its office buildings.
The Plaza at PPL Center, PPL’s new office building in downtown Allentown, Pa., boasts a long list of environmental features, including a vegetative roof and innovative energy- and water-saving devices.
It has been awarded the Gold rating from the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program — one of only eight privately owned buildings in the nation to achieve this honor.
Why Build a Green Building?
When PPL needed more office space at its corporate headquarters, it wanted a building that would be cost-effective and environmentally wise, because environmental stewardship is one of the company’s core values.
The Plaza at PPL Center was built to the strict standards of the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, or LEED, program of the U.S. Green Building Council.
LEED buildings are environmentally responsible, economically efficient and healthy places to work. Energy efficiency, water efficiency, use of recycled building materials, high indoor air quality and ample daylight are hallmarks of LEED buildings.
The Plaza at PPL Center is a lot more than an office building. It’s a statement about PPL’s corporate values. And it’s proof that a building that fits the business plan and the budget also can fit in well with its surroundings — and with the environment.
