Management Philosophy

Generating and delivering energy affects the environment, so our challenge is to do it as cleanly and efficiently as possible.

PPL’s power plants use coal, oil, natural gas, nuclear fuel and hydropower to generate electricity. This balance assures that we can generate affordable and reliable power, while taking advantage of cleaner fuels where possible. We’ve also increased our hydropower capacity and installed additional pollution controls.

PPL’s environmental management system looks for ways to work smarter, cleaner and more efficiently. Our audit program holds managers accountable for making sure every facility meets environmental regulations and corporate environmental policies.

And our commitment to the environment doesn’t end at the plant fence. We find ways to share our expertise with our neighbors by helping restore streams, protecting threatened species and advising farmers on conservation practices.

We also work with national policymakers and regulators to help identify achievable targets and technologies to reduce pollutants, save water and protect wildlife.
