Environmental Education
PPL has a responsibility to be a leader in promoting sound environmental policies.
- Environmental programs. PPL responds to teachers' needs for quality environmental education resources through the nationally acclaimed environmental education programs we hold at our Holtwood, Martins Creek, Montour, Lake Wallenpaupack, Brunner Island and Susquehanna Riverlands environmental preserves, as well as other PPL locations outside Pennsylvania.
- Project Earth Grants. PPL has a competitive grant program that provides up to $1,500 to winning schools for funding innovative school projects that focus on issues like watersheds, wetlands, air quality, renewable and non-renewable resources, energy conservation and the greening of schools. Eligible schools must be within a 20-mile radius of a PPL Generation facility or the company's General Office in Allentown, Pa.
- Teaching Environmental Awareness. The annual TEA workshops provide professional staff development opportunities for teachers through daylong sessions addressing environmental issues. The workshops are held at the PPL environmental preserves.
