Available Curricula
PPL often works hand-in-hand with educators to develop and disseminate curricula about issues important to the company and to educators. Here is what's available:
- Hydropower (Grades 4 to 8) — documents the history of hydropower and covers all aspects--both pros and cons--of hydropower generation.(Download PDF)
- Electrical Safety (Grades K to 8) — uses activity guides and lesson plans from noted national vendors to provide educators with a wide range of grade-level-specific electrical safety materials.
- "Watt Do You Know About The Cost Of Watts " (Grades 5 to 12) — a fun lesson plan about how to determine the cost of using various electrical appliances. (Download PDF)
- It Started With Edison (Grades 2 to 12) — a career-awareness and career-planning curriculum with an emphasis on PPL-specific jobs.
- Understanding Air Quality and Air Monitoring (Grades 10 to 12) — provides carefully researched and factual information about air quality and how monitoring of air quality is handled. Covers all factors affecting air quality including electricity generation. Teachers must attend a day-long workshop to obtain this five-lesson unit.
