PPL Electrical Safety Poster Contest
What is the PPL Electrical Safety Contest?
The PPL Electrical Safety Contest is for students in grades K-8 in schools throughout the company's delivery service area. Each year PPL decides on a theme for students to create a poster about electrical safety. The students can use crayons, pencils or paints. Winning students will receive shares of PPL Corporation stock. The 8 grand-prize posters will be featured on PPL's electrical safety poster calendar that is distributed each January to all participating schools. Teachers of grand-prize winners will receive an engraved plaque suitable for display in their classroom or school's trophy case. The calendar will reinforce PPL's electrical safety message throughout the year. The following is a timeline of the contest:
- Contest information is mailed to schools in August, so teachers have it in their mailboxes when they get back to school.
- Deadline for teachers to submit student posters is Oct. 31.
- Winners are selected and announced in November.
- PPL Electrical Safety Poster Calendars are printed and distributed within PPL and to schools by January.
For questions about the contest, e-mail Education Relations at the start of the school year.

What will the Electrical Safety Poster Contest accomplish?
The PPL Electrical Safety Contest will reach thousands of educators and students about how to be safe around electricity. Through this contest, PPL hopes to educate students and teachers about the dangers of electricity to help prevent injuries or death. One death as a result of dangerous activity around electric poles and wires is too many.

"The Travels of Electricity"
2006-2007 PPL Electrical Safety Poster Contest
The theme of this year's PPL Electrical Safety Poster Contest, “The Travels of Electricity,” asks students from grades K – 8 to help Sammy Safety stay safe around places where electricity travels. Students can illustrate on a safety poster some of those places and how to stay safe around them.
Sammy Safety would like you to draw a poster that shows the travels of electricity. We can’t always see electricity, but it can be dangerous when we don’t know it’s there. You can create a poster that warns others about the travels of electricity and how to be safe around it. Remember, only plugs go in outlets. Don’t let your little sister or brother stick fingers in outlets. Use outlet covers to protect them. Keep cords in good condition. Electricity travels at the speed of light. At 186,000 miles per second, it gives you no time to react! You can’t move faster than electricity, so you just have to stay out of its way.
