Earth Gardens and the Seasons of Life
Join PPL for a family friendly Earth Day celebration with nationally recognized environmental educator Michael Caduto from 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, April 21 at Montour Preserve’s Environmental Education Center.
Caduto’s unique program will include seeds of the past to be sown for the future in the form of Native American folklore and wisdom about nature. Each new generation has the opportunity to carry on the ancient tradition of growing native seeds and passing a living legacy on to the next generation.
Through story and song this performance explores the connections between people and plants and native gardens. These humorous, nurturing stories also lead us on a journey through the seasons and the changes that take place around and within us.
Following the performance, participants will take a walk outside to share folklore among the splendors of nature. On this walk we’ll share Colonial and Native American folklore and information to learn about the myths and realities concerning the use of wild edible, medicinal and poisonous plants.
