Foul Rift Natural Area Dedication
In addition to its beautiful collection of native plants, the Foul Rift Natural Area at PPL’s Martins Creek Environmental Preserve is noted for its mature and diverse forest, unusual rock formations and incredible views of the Delaware River.
Join PPL and the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for the dedication of the Foul Rift Natural Area at 1 p.m. Sunday, April 22 at Cedars Pavilion on Foul Rift Road. The event will be followed by a wildflower walk and invasive species removal project.
PPL will provide information on environmental management initiatives on the site, and local naturalist Bill Sweeney of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources will lead a wildflower walk from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
An invasive species removal project coordinated by the local chapter of the Sierra Club will follow the wildflower walk from 2:30-4 p.m. Participants will concentrate on pulling invasive garlic mustard in sensitive areas where it is threatening columbine and other native plants. Learn some great recipes to use garlic mustard in your kitchen. Please dress appropriately for outdoor work.
