Brunner Island Earth Day Activities
Employees of PPL’s Brunner Island power plant invite everyone to join them for a celebration of Earth Day from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 21 at the community soccer fields near the plant on Wago Road.
The event will feature wildlife displays and exhibits, including an up-close look at some remarkable birds of prey courtesy of a local wildlife rehabilitator.
The York County Solid Waste Management Authority, York County Planning Commission and York County Conservation District will have exhibits as well. And there will be a special guest visit from Smokey Bear, a symbol of fire safety for more than 60 years.
The Earth Day event also is an opportunity to learn more about the environmental work under way at the power plant, where PPL is investing more than $800 million to improve air quality and reduce the temperature of water that the plant discharges to the Susquehanna River.
Food and beverages will be available.
