Frequently Asked Questions
What job opportunities are currently available at PPL?
You can view current job opportunities on our Career website by clicking here.
Where are the jobs located?
The job location is listed on the job posting. Domestic U.S. job opportunities are available in Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Montana, Connecticut, New York and New Jersey. International opportunities are located in England and Wales.
Does the Careers page include job opportunities outside Pennsylvania?
Domestic job opportunities are listed on the PPL Careers page. Normally, international opportunities can be found by clicking here.
How do I submit a resume?
Review the list of job postings and select the job that fits your qualifications and interest, then click on the Online Response form at the bottom of the job posting.
Where do I find a position's source code?
The source code is always listed within the job posting.
How do I know if PPL received my resume?
When you hit the "submit resume" button on the online resume tool, you will be taken to a confirmation screen that reads:
"We received your resume and appreciate your interest in employment with PPL.
Thank you for your interest in PPL."
I tried to submit my resume using the online tool, but the Web page indicated there was an error. What should I do?
Occasionally our server or your server hits a snag, causing an error. If this happens to you, please try to submit your resume again using the online tool. Your resume will most likely be successfully submitted on your second try.
Will a representative from PPL notify me if the job is filled or if I make it to the next step in the application process? I have submitted my resume for several openings and have heard nothing.
A representative of the Human Resources Department will contact you if the hiring manager is interested in your candidacy any further. At times it can take 4-6 weeks to be contacted.
I'd like to be able to include a cover letter with my resume, addressed to the appropriate individual. How can I find out the name of the appropriate individual?
All resumes go to a central database and are sorted by source code. It is not necessary to address a cover letter to a specific individual. If you are applying for multiple positions, your cover letter will only reflect the most recent position you applied for.
What if a position I am interested in is not listed on the Careers page? Can I submit a resume anyway?
Only resumes sent in response to a specific open position (source code) are considered. We recommend you periodically visit our Careers page to see an updated list of current job opportunities.
Why can't I submit my resume via U.S. Mail or fax?
We receive thousands of resumes, and it can take up to a month to process a resume that is submitted via U.S. mail or fax. Resumes received via our online tool reach the database almost instantaneously. You could miss the window of opportunity for a position because of the processing delay.
I would like to complete an employment application.
Employment applications are only used when candidates are actually interviewed for a position. When you come in for an interview, you will be given an application to fill out. Otherwise, applications are not used, and your resume is our record of your interest in employment.
I submitted my resume through the online tool, but I'd like to mail it to you just to make sure you received it.
If you received the confirmation message, you can be sure we received your resume. Sending multiple resumes is discouraged. The resume database gets bogged down with duplicate resumes, which can delay processing your resume.
How long are job postings generally on the Web site? Are they posted for a specific amount of time, or until the job is filled?
A position remains on the PPL Web site until it is filled.
I am a co-op/intern who needs temporary housing. What information can you provide?
College Relations provides relocation reimbursement and assistance to students moving to any of PPL’s locations. If you require relocation assistance please contact College Relations to inquire about opportunities near your work location.
