Fishing

Where do you fish for smallmouth bass when there’s snow on the ground? Try the Susquehanna River adjacent to Brunner Island’s water discharge channel. There, water warmed in the process of generating electricity is returned to the river, attracting an abundance of baitfish and game fish. During the winter months, smallmouth and largemouth bass and walleye are the catch of the day.

Prime fishing at this area begins in December and continues until April. But don’t forget that it’s winter. Take some precautions such as fishing with a buddy and walking carefully in the water. Some anglers use wading sticks. Keep a dry set of clothes in your vehicle in case you get wet.
