James E. Schinski, a 25-year information technology veteran, serves as vice president-chief information officer for PPL Corporation.
He joined PPL in March 2009 and leads the information technology and computer services functions for the company’s ever-evolving needs, including a large regulated electricity delivery operation and active competitive generation and marketing group.
Schinski previously served as chief information officer and vice president of Human Resources for the Midwest Independent Transmission System Operator for nearly five years. At the Midwest ISO he was responsible for the design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance of information technology systems and applications used to operate one of the nation’s largest electricity markets.
Before accepting a permanent position with the Midwest ISO, Schinski served as a consultant to the chief executive officer and board on all information technology matters related to the development and deployment of the Midwest energy trading market. Prior to his tenure at the Midwest ISO, he held a variety of program management, engineering and technology positions at Lockheed Martin Corp., advancing to chief information officer for the Systems Integration business headquartered in King of Prussia, Pa.
A Pennsylvania native, Schinski began his career at the former Philadelphia Electric Co. as an engineer in the electric production division working primarily at the Limerick and Peach Bottom nuclear power plants. He also worked for General Electric and Reliance Insurance before moving to Lockheed Martin.
He earned a degree in electrical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. |
