PPL Electric Utilities

David G. DeCampli is president of PPL Electric Utilities, the PPL subsidiary that delivers electricity to about 1.4 million customers in central and eastern Pennsylvania. PPL Electric Utilities has been honored with the top ranking for customer satisfaction by J.D. Power and Associates 17 times; more other utility in the country has earned more.

Under his leadership, PPL Electric Utilities transitioned into a competitive market for electric generation supply, embarked on a comprehensive, statewide consumer education campaign, and launched a package of energy efficiency and conservation programs to help consumers of all sizes reduce energy usage and save money.

Additionally, PPL Electric Utilities was awarded a federal Department of Energy grant to accelerate investments in smart grid technology to improve distribution operations and reliability. The company’s capital investments also have grown significantly as PPL Electric Utilities expands efforts to upgrade its electric delivery system, strengthen aging infrastructure and keep reliability strong. In 2011, PPL Electric Utilities plans to invest $450 million in capital improvements, and $3.4 billion over the next four years.

DeCampli has more than 30 years of utility leadership and industry experience. He became president in April 2007 after joining PPL as senior vice president of Transmission and Distribution Operations and Engineering in late 2006.

Previously, he was vice president of Asset Management for Exelon Energy Delivery, responsible for system planning, investment strategy and operational performance for both PECO Energy in Philadelphia and Commonwealth Edison in Chicago. Earlier in his career, he held a several positions with increasing responsibility in engineering, electric operations and customer service.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Drexel University and a master’s degree in organizational dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania.

DeCampli serves as the chairman of the board of trustees for Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Network in Allentown, Pa. He serves on the board of directors of the Edison Illuminating Companies and is the vice chairman of the board of directors of the Energy Association of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the Policy Roundtable of the Pennsylvania Business Council.
