- Pennsylvania Power & Light enters the natural gas business.
- Pennsylvania Water & Power Co. and Consolidated Gas & Electric in Baltimore form the Safe Harbor Water Power Co. and build the Safe Harbor hydroelectric plant on the Susquehanna River.
- Reddy Kilowatt serves as a symbol for Pennsylvania Power & Light from 1934 to 1981.
- Pennsylvania Power & Light is the largest single user of anthracite in the world, consuming more than 1 million tons a year in the boilers of its steam electric generating stations.
- The Public Utilities Holding Company Act of 1935 is signed into law, forcing holding companies to divest themselves of their operating subsidiaries.
- In March 1936, Pennsylvania Power & Light crews battle unprecedented ice dams and floods. In Wilkes-Barre, the Susquehanna River reaches a level of 33.1 feet before receding and water gushes over the Holtwood Dam in a wall more than 19 feet high.
