General Information

The land around PPL Montana’s hydroelectric plant offers some of the most beautiful scenery in the state and opportunities for hiking, fishing, boating and many other seasonal outdoor activities.

PPL Montana works in cooperation with Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks; the Bureau of Land Management; the Conservation Fund; the U.S. Forest Service; and other public and private organizations to keep these recreational resources available for the public to enjoy.

Along the Missouri and Madison Rivers, PPL Montana, under its federal operating license, works with many of these agencies and private groups to implement a diverse array of environmental stewardship projects to protect habitats on or near the banks of these important rivers. Under this partnership, more than 3,000 acres of wetland, riparian and upland habitats have been restored along the Madison and Missouri Rivers.
